How to Add Line Items, Taxes, and Discounts to an Invoice

Most invoices aren't just one flat amount. AstaBill lets you break down your charges by item, apply VAT or other taxes, and offer discounts — all in one place.

To add line items

1. While creating or editing an invoice, scroll to the Line items section.
2. Click Add line and enter a description, quantity, and unit price.
3. To add a per-item discount, click Add discount on that line and enter a fixed amount.
4. Repeat for each product or service.

To add tax, discount, or shipping

1. Scroll to the Pricing & adjustments section below the line items.
2. Under Tax, select a saved tax preset (e.g. GRA VAT 15%) or enter a custom rate.
3. Under Discount, select a saved preset or enter a flat amount to apply across the whole invoice.
4. Under Shipping, enter a shipping charge if applicable.
5. The invoice total updates automatically.

If you're GRA e-VAT registered, your VAT rate will appear as a preset in the Tax section. Enable it in Settings → Compliance & Reporting.
